Juvenile Offenders
There are over 2500 children in jail in Georgia. In order to be considered a juvenile, you have to be under the age of 17. Juveniles must follow the state law, but if they don't, they can be tried by juvenile courts.
Every county has a juvenile court. It is designed to protect children. It ensures protection and provides care for children coming out of their homes. There are 2 types of juvenile crimes. They are delinquent and unruly crimes. Delinquent crimes are crimes that would be a crime if committed by an adult. A few examples are rape, burglary. An unruly crime is an act that would not be a crime if committed by an adult. Some examples include smoking, drinking.
