Role of citizens in Georgia Government
Basic Structure of Constitution
The Georgia constitution is made up of the preamble like the constitution of the U.S and 10 articles. They mainly talk about the roles of citizens, the 3 branches and their powers, and processes to amend the constitution.
Checks and balances
Georgia has 3 branches of Government. They are the legislative, executive, and judicial. Each branch has its own unique power. Georgia didn't want one to be more powerful than the others. So a system of Checks and Balances is implemented. Certain branches have different powers. The legislature makes the laws, but if the governor vetoes it, 2/3 of the general assembly have to vote in favor in order to override it. The Executive branch is the law enforcer and has the power to veto the laws passed by the legislature. The Judicial Branch makes sure that the laws that are passed agree with the Georgia Constitution. If they don't, then the law gets shut down.
Rights/Responsibilities of Citizens
You have to be an age of 18 in order to vote. When you go to vote, you will show your license to vote, and you will sign a form saying that you voted. Your votes in other states will be with them so they will know how often you voted.
